Staining Quick Tip
Have you been feeling blue because your blue RAC stains (Acid Stains) don’t give you much blue color?

Supercharge them! Adding some Miracle Grow plant fertilizer seems to give your blues a boost. Either sprinkle directly on to the concrete (for a spotty look) or mix in with your stain (more consistent color). Multiple coats and plenty of time to react (bare minimum 4 hours after final coat) will help you achieve nice colors.

Over 92,000 Participants Reported

The World of Concrete-2007 was another record show and Engrave-A-Crete continued to increase its presence representing Decorative Concrete Engravers. Within a 30’ x 30’ booth which included two 50 inch flat screen monitors continuously playing excerpts of its new Training DVD, the Engrave-A-Crete team conducted over 50 live demonstrations. The World Of Concrete is truly the largest concrete industry exposition in the world and Decorative Concrete Engraving was well represented.

Over time we have collected information about the users of Engrave-A-Crete products. A sampling of the data is offered below and is offered to assist you in the future planning of your business.

  • 59% of Engrave-A-Crete equipment users are FULL TIME concrete engravers. The balance supplements other business interests with concrete engraving activity.
  • 59% of the owners of Engrave-A-Crete equipment entered the business with a background in contracting. A growing percentage had no contracting experience. Other experience prior to engraving is diverse to include; sales, landscaping, management, and engineering.
  • 46% of the owners have 2 employees. 10% have grown their business to employ over 5 people.

Users currently deploy pricing philosophies which have most pricing under competitive alternatives. Those currently pricing under various alternatives are:

  • 90% Pricing Under Pavers
  • 85% Pricing Under Stamp/Pattern Makers
  • 75% Pricing Under Overlay/Topping Contractors

(We at Engrave-A-Crete would encourage testing of price elasticity in your markets. We believe that with proper presentation of features and benefits, engraving contractors do not need to compete on price but rather on perceived value. We will be devoting future newsletters to this subject.)

It was great to see you in LasVegas!

From all reports the 2006 World Of Concrete in Las Vegas Nevada was a record breaking show. Of interest, 2006 represented the first time a dedicated portion of the event was allocated to “the fastest growing segment of the industry” – DECORATIVE CONCRETE! With a reported 80,000 attendees touring the exhibits, Engrave-A-Crete provided:

  • Ongoing Demos
  • Concrete Pecker T-Shirts to “LIVEN UP THE ENVIRONMENT”

And

  • Unveiled the prototype of the “Sandroid” recirculating sandblasting tool (Watch for the release of this NEW Engrave-A-Crete Product in the Fall of 2006!)
